Job Summary
The Supervisory Auditor has program responsibilities for various OIG audits and special projects covering audit activities in all organizational entities comprising the District government. The incumbent has primary responsibility to include the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits (DAIGA) or Assistant Inspector General for Audits (AIGA), plans, develops and executes audits and oversight activities to ensure effective management, performance and control of District costs, which includes: (1) reviews of District government operations; (2) reviews of contract costs for propriety, including both pre-award and post award audits; and (3) reviews of the quality and appropriateness of services provided to the District, including reviews of performance and compliance with District government policies and regulations, among others.
Assist in developing recommendations for an annual audit plan, scheduling and completing audits, estimating workloads and capability of staff, making assignments of audits and other special projects, and making adjustments in staff and workload to meet firm deadlines for projects at the direction of the DAIGA.
Ensures audit products comply with GAGAS and internal operating policies and procedures, and to determine sufficiency of audit evidence for conclusions and issuance of audit reports and makes written evaluation of auditors in the Audit Unit after each audit assignment is completed and assist the DAIGA in making recommendations for promotions, transfers, demotions, disciplinary and other non-routine matters.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
Degree: Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or a degree, including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
Must have at least 3 years of experience managing an audit team, group or leading an operation
Professional Certifications
Must possess a professional certification such as CPA, CFE, CIA, CIGA, CISA, CICA, or willing to obtain within a year of employment.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a normal office setting

This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit.
This position is in the Management Supervisory Service (MSS) and serves at the discretion of the appointing official.
The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability – Security Sensitive.
